Where is Horizon Dental located?
Level 14, Park House, 187–191 Macquarie Street, Sydney NSW 2000 — in the heart of the CBD, a 3-minute walk from Martin Place station. Wilson Parking is directly below the building
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 8:00am–5:00pm, with extended hours Wednesday until 7:00pm. Same-day emergency appointments are reserved every business day.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your Medicare card, any private health fund card, a list of current medications, and any recent dental x-rays if you have them (helpful, not essential).
I haven't seen a dentist in years — will I be judged?
Never. We see patients every week who have avoided dental care for years. Our approach is practical and non-judgemental: we assess where things stand, prioritise what matters, and build a realistic plan together.
How do I book?
Call 02 9221 1685, email reception@horizondental.com.au, or use the form at the bottom of this page. We typically confirm within the hour.
How much is a checkup and clean?
New patients: $270 all-inclusive — comprehensive examination, professional scale and clean, x-rays where indicated, oral cancer screening and fluoride. Existing patients from $210.
Which health funds do you accept?
All major funds via HICAPS on-the-spot claiming: HCF, Bupa, Medibank, NIB, CBHS, AHM and others. You claim at your appointment and pay only the gap.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes — ZIP Money (interest-free options, 6–24 months) and Afterpay, subject to their standard approval. Larger treatment plans can also be staged over time.
Will I know the cost before treatment starts?
Always. We provide a written, itemised estimate before beginning any work, and nothing proceeds without your agreement. No surprise invoices, ever.
Do you bulk bill?
We are a private practice, not a bulk billing clinic. Medicare CDBS is accepted for eligible children, and health fund rebates significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs for insured patients.
What cosmetic treatments do you offer?
The full range: porcelain veneers, composite veneers, Invisalign, in-chair and take-home whitening, gum contouring, and complete smile makeovers. Cosmetic consultations are complimentary.
Porcelain or composite veneers — what's the difference?
Porcelain is lab-crafted ceramic: the most lifelike, stain-resistant option, lasting 15–20+ years across two visits. Composite is hand-sculpted in a single visit at a lower cost, lasting 5–7 years, and is largely reversible. Our comparison guide covers it in depth.
Can I preview my result before committing?
In many cases, yes. Digital smile design lets us show you a preview, and for composite work we can mock up the proposed shape directly on your teeth before you decide anything.
Does cosmetic dentistry hurt?
Most cosmetic procedures are comfortable. Whitening and bonding are typically painless; veneer preparation uses local anaesthetic. Anxious patients can add nitrous oxide or IV sedation.
Am I suitable for Invisalign?
Most adults with mild to moderate crowding or spacing are. A free 3D scan at your consultation shows exactly what Invisalign can achieve before you commit. Complex cases may be better suited to braces — and we’ll tell you honestly if so.
How long does Invisalign take?
Invisalign Lite: 3–6 months for minor corrections. Invisalign Full: typically 9–18 months. Aligners must be worn 22+ hours a day — compliance is the biggest factor in your timeline.
How much do dental implants cost?
A single tooth implant is from $4,500 all-inclusive (implant, abutment, ceramic crown). All-on-4 from $22,000 per arch. A free 3D CBCT consultation determines your exact plan and cost.
How long do implants last?
With good care, titanium implants can last a lifetime — published long-term success rates are around 98%. The ceramic crown may need replacement after 15–20 years of normal wear.
I have severe dental anxiety — can you actually help?
Yes. Three levels of sedation are available: nitrous oxide (happy gas) for mild anxiety, oral sedation for moderate, and IV sedation for severe phobia or longer procedures. Our pre-sedation consultations are pressure-free — you stay in control.
Can I drive after sedation?
After nitrous oxide, yes — it clears within minutes. After oral or IV sedation, no: you’ll need a responsible adult to take you home and should rest for the remainder of the day.
Is sedation safe?
When administered by trained providers with continuous monitoring — as it is at Horizon Dental — sedation dentistry has an excellent safety record. Blood pressure, oxygen and heart rate are monitored throughout.
Do you see same-day emergencies?
Yes — emergency slots are reserved every business day. Call 02 9221 1685 as early as possible for toothache, broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, abscesses, and lost fillings or crowns.
A tooth has been knocked out — what do I do right now?
Pick it up by the crown (never the root). If it’s clean, gently push it back into the socket. If you can’t, store it in cold milk and call us immediately — replantation success drops sharply after 60 minutes.
Is a dental abscess dangerous?
It can be. Facial swelling, difficulty swallowing, or fever above 38.5°C means call 000 or go to hospital emergency now. Otherwise, call us for a same-day appointment — abscesses never resolve on their own.
How do I manage toothache overnight?
Ibuprofen 400mg with food every 6–8 hours (or paracetamol if you can’t take ibuprofen), a cold pack on the outside of the face, head elevated. No heat, and never aspirin directly on the gum. Call us first thing.
