Broken tooth. Repaired today.

A broken, chipped, or cracked tooth needs same-day assessment — even if it doesn’t hurt. Sharp edges can lacerate soft tissue, exposed dentine is highly sensitive, and structural cracks can worsen rapidly. Call Horizon Dental now.

Same-day emergency

Dental emergencies don’t schedule themselves — and they rarely happen at a convenient time. Horizon Dental at Park House, Macquarie Street, reserves same-day emergency appointments every business day. When you call, we treat your situation with the urgency it deserves.

Dr Kozor has 30+ years of experience managing every type of dental emergency — from severe toothaches and knocked-out teeth to abscesses and broken restorations. We diagnose with digital x-rays on the same visit, and in most cases provide definitive treatment or immediate relief the same day.

Seek Immediate Care For
Signs you need an
emergency dentist now.
Facial swelling or fever

May indicate spreading infection from a dental abscess — seek treatment immediately. This is the most urgent dental emergency.

Severe, throbbing toothache

Especially pain that is worse lying down, keeping you awake, or spreading to your jaw, ear, or neck. Do not delay.

Knocked-out or partially dislodged tooth

Act within 60 minutes for best replantation results. Call us immediately and keep the tooth moist.

Swollen gum or jaw

Swelling around a tooth or under the jaw is a warning sign of infection. Never wait for a swollen dental abscess to resolve on its own.

Broken tooth with sharp edges

Sharp tooth fragments can cut soft tissue. Call us for same-day assessment and temporary protection of the tooth.

Uncontrolled bleeding

Bleeding that doesn’t stop within 20–30 minutes after pressure — particularly after an extraction — requires immediate attention.

Most common emergency
Severe Toothache

Intense, persistent tooth pain that disrupts sleep, eating, or daily function. May indicate pulp infection, abscess, or a cracked tooth requiring immediate assessment.

Same-day repair
Broken or Chipped Tooth

A fractured, broken, or chipped tooth — from trauma, biting on hard objects, or a failed restoration. Severity ranges from cosmetic to structural.

Act within 60 min
Knocked-Out Tooth

A completely avulsed tooth — the most time-critical dental emergency. Replantation is possible within 1–2 hours if the tooth is kept moist and handled correctly.

Treat same day
Dental Abscess

A bacterial infection causing swelling, severe pain, and fever. Never wait on an abscess — untreated dental infections can spread rapidly and become life-threatening.

Protect the tooth
Lost Filling or Crown

A filling or crown that has fallen out, leaving an exposed tooth that is sensitive, painful, or at risk of further damage. Can often be temporised same day.

Call us immediately
Other Dental Trauma

Jaw pain, soft tissue injuries, broken orthodontic wires, cracked or partially dislodged teeth, or any other dental situation causing significant pain or concern.

Common Questions
Your emergency
questions answered.

Common questions we receive from patients experiencing dental emergencies in Sydney CBD. If yours isn’t here, call us — we’re here to help.

How quickly can I see an emergency dentist at Horizon Dental?

We prioritise same-day emergency appointments on every business day. Call 02 9221 1685 as early as possible and our team will make every effort to see you the same day. For the most time-critical situations — knocked-out teeth, dental abscesses — we treat these as the highest priority.

Horizon Dental operates Monday to Friday 8am–5pm and Wednesday until 7pm. For weekend emergencies, call us first — we may be able to provide telephone guidance and schedule a Monday appointment. For severe swelling or uncontrolled pain, Sydney Hospital Emergency Department is available 24 hours.

A dental emergency includes: severe pain preventing sleep or eating, facial swelling or fever, a knocked-out or broken tooth, an abscess, a lost filling or crown causing significant pain, or uncontrolled bleeding. When in doubt, call us — it’s always better to have it assessed.

Emergency appointments may involve after-hours scheduling, extended consultation, or more complex treatment — these factors can affect the cost. We always provide a clear cost estimate before beginning any treatment, and accept all major health funds with HICAPS on-the-spot claiming.

Call us and describe your symptoms. Our experienced dental team can advise over the phone whether you need immediate attention, a same-day appointment, or whether the situation can wait until regular hours. We would always rather you called.
